Best Cruise Ships Launching in 2026 and 2027

The new-build pipeline for 2026 and 2027 is unusually busy. The Icon-class is rolling out further sister ships, Disney is expanding into Asia, and Viking is adding to its ocean fleet. Here are the launches worth tracking if you are thinking about a maiden voyage or simply want to sail something new.

Star of the Seas and Norwegian Luna

Star of the Seas is Royal Caribbean's second Icon-class ship, sister to Icon of the Seas. Launching in 2025 from Port Canaveral, she carries the same neighbourhoods, water park and Caribbean itineraries as the original. Norwegian Luna is the next ship in NCL's Prima Plus class, due in 2026, with LNG dual-fuel propulsion, the largest indoor go-kart track at sea and the line's signature solo studio cabins.

Viking Libra and Disney Adventure

Viking Libra (2026) keeps to the line's adults-only, all-inclusive formula on a slightly larger hull. Cabin layouts and the relentless Scandinavian aesthetic are unchanged, which is exactly what Viking customers want. Disney Adventure launches in late 2025 and is Disney's first ship purpose-built for the Asian market, sailing from Singapore. She is also the largest Disney ship to date, with seven themed lands and a focus on character experiences from across the catalogue.

The new ships share a few priorities. LNG and methanol-ready propulsion to cut emissions, app-based ordering and keyless cabin entry as standard, more solo cabins and multigenerational suites, and bigger spa and wellness floors as the cruising demographic continues to broaden.

Booking Recommendations

Maiden voyages sell out fast and rarely discount. The sweet spot is the second or third sailing, when the line has worked through teething problems but the launch buzz still gets you good media-rate offers and onboard credit. If you are flexible on dates, late-2026 itineraries on the newer ships will start appearing in 2026 wave-season sales.
