This private shore excursion is designed especially for cruise ship passengers, showcasing the spectacular scenery of Christchurch's hills, harbours and beaches.
Your day begins with pick-up from Lyttelton Port and time to explore the township's historic streets, boutique shops and vibrant harbour. From there, travel to Evans Pass lookout for sweeping views across Lyttelton Harbour. The journey continues to Sumner Beach, where you'll have time to enjoy the seaside village and waterfront before travelling through New Zealand's second-longest road tunnel to Cass Bay for a relaxing morning or afternoon tea.
The tour then follows the harbour to Governors Bay, where you can visit the historic jetty. The final stops are the Sign of the Bellbird and Sign of the Takahe, both offering panoramic views across Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains and Lyttelton Harbour.
The tour concludes with your choice of drop-off in Christchurch city centre or back at Lyttelton Port.

- Lyttelton is a charming historic town filled with quaint shops and a vibrant atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to explore, enjoy the local culture, and take in stunning views of the harbour. A 5-minute drive up Evans Pass to the lookout and then another 5 minutes down to Sumner. (30 min)
- At Sumner Beach, there is time to enjoy the relaxed seaside village atmosphere and take a stroll along the waterfront. A 20-minute drive, travelling through New Zealand's second longest road tunnel brings you to Cass Bay. (30 min)
- Enjoy a relaxed morning or afternoon tea in a peaceful coastal setting at Cass Bay. A 10-minute drive along the coastal road brings you to Governors Bay. (30 min)
- The Governors Bay Jetty offers a peaceful spot to enjoy beautiful views of the bay and surrounding hills. It’s a perfect place to relax and appreciate the natural beauty of the area. A 10-minute drive following the coast takes us to our next destination. (15 min)
- We will stop at another historic stone rest house, the Sign of the Bellbird. Here, you'll enjoy the breathtaking views of the Canterbury Plains and Lyttelton Harbour. A 15-minute drive brings us to the next location. (10 min)
- The Sign of the Takahe is a historic rest house that survived the 2010-2011 earthquakes but required extensive restorations to preserve its integrity and charm. This building represents a vital piece of history and where you can enjoy scenic views. A 20-minute drive into the city centre or back to the port, concludes this half-day shore excursion. (10 min)
