Mary Jane is an American-Irish writer and historian and has been living in Italy since 1965 working in the fields of international education, journalism and tourism. When she is not busy writing about central Italy in her palazzo between Rome and Civitavecchia, she can be found aboard luxury cruise ships sailing the Mediterranean as a guest lecturer.

Itinerary

1. The tour passes the Ancient Fortress Rocca otherwise known as the old port wall.
2. The tour passes the Piazza Calamatta. Outdoor markets are sometimes held here in the summer.
3. The tour briefly stops at the Piazza Aurelio Saffi where you'll learn about some of the interesting places nearby.
4. The tour briefly stops in Piazza Leandra where you'll learn about some of the fascinating nearby places.
5. The tour passes Corso Centocelle where you'll be able to see the arched green entranceways of the Theatre, dedicated to Trajan. It was built in the 1840s when the city was flourishing.
6. The tour passes the Archaeological Museum of Civitavecchia.
7. The tour passes the Cathedral of St Francis of Assisi
8. The tour takes you along the promenade overlooking the port and the Michelangelo fortress.
9. The tour ends at Porta Livorno, a short stroll from the start location.
