Furnas Tour with Visit to Thermal Fountains and Volcanic Landscapes

Itinerary

1. The Ilhéu de Villa Franca do Campo is a unique volcanic formation located off the south coast of the island of São Miguel, in the Azores. As a result of the collapse of an ancient underwater volcano, it forms a natural lagoon of calm, crystal clear waters, accessible only during the summer. It is a place of great natural beauty, perfect for bathing, snorkeling and direct contact with nature, and is classified as a Protected Natural Reservation.
2. Terra Nostra Park, located in the Vale das Furnas on the island of São Miguel, is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Europe. Created in the 18th century, it houses an impressive collection of exotic plants and trees from all over the world. The park is also famous for its thermal pool of iron, naturally warm waters, ideal for relaxing in a unique environment of nature and tranquility. (1h 30min)
3. The Caldeiras das Furnas are one of the main manifestations of active volcanism on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores. Here you can observe fumarolas, mud boilers and springs of mineral water, as well as the traditional method of making the famous furna cooked, prepared slowly in the natural heat of the earth. A unique space where nature and Azorean culture meet. (30 min)
4. The Miradouro do Pico do Ferro offers one of the most iconic views of the Vale das Furnas and the Lagoa das Furnas on the island of São Miguel. Situated at about 570 meters altitude, it allows you to appreciate the surrounding volcanic landscape, marked by lush vegetation and intense colors, being a privileged spot for photographs and contemplation of nature. 5. The Gorreana Tea Factory, located on the north coast of the island of São Miguel, is the oldest tea plantation in Europe still operating. Founded in 1883, it retains traditional production methods and can be visited for free.
