The perfect day in São Miguel even if it's raining, is exploring the volcano activity at Furnas: “caldeiras”; geysers; thermal springs. Have time to visit and bathe at the Terra Nostra Park and hot springs. Entrance fee is not included, you can purchase it at the entrance of the park on the day (subject to availability). If you prefer not to visit the park you can spend more time exploring the Furnas village and take the chance to taste and buy island famous products: Tea, “Bolo Lêvedo”, steamed Corn Cob, “Queijadas”, and many others. Or having lunch. Although not included you can stop to lunch the typical "cozido", at a local restaurant. Please advise so we book in advance. Explore the tea plantation slopes and factory at Gorreana Tea Plantation. Pit stop along the way on key viewpoints like Santa Iria and Pico do Ferro. This experience takes about 5h. Please note if you stop for lunch we might need to take less time on other locations.

Itinerary

  1. Visit the tea plantation and factory, enjoy some time to walk along the tea slopes, learn the process and taste our unique tea. (1h 0min)
  2. Enjoy the best view over the Furnas valley from this high point. (15 min)
  3. Enjoy the scenic views of the margins of Furnas Lake. (30 min)
  4. Walk through the volcanic cooking pods, where the famous “cozido” dish is cooked. Entrance fee not included (3 euros per person). (30 min)
  5. Explore and bathe at this magical famous botanical park. Entrance fee is not included, it can be purchased at the Park (subject to availability). If you prefer not to visit the Park you can spend more time exploring the village. (1h 30min)
  6. Visit the geysers and the thermal springs at Furnas village, and enjoy some free time at the village where you can buy local products: Bolo Lêvedo, Corn Cob, Sweet tarts… (45 min)
  7. Surrounded by the beautiful botanical scenery of the river stream, you will find a hot springs water pond. We dare you to dip your feet in it! (15 min)
  8. Stop along the way to soak in a beautiful 360 view over the island north coastline and mountains. (15 min)
