This full-day tour with an experienced Caribbean Horizons tour guide offers all the island’s highlights in one fun-filled day. Driving along the picturesque west coast, to the Fishing town of Gouyave, home of Grenada's three-time, Olympic medalist Kirani James. At Diamond Chocolate Factory we will sample delicious Jouvay Chocolate. Your adventure starts at The Victoria Nutmeg Museum, You will learn why Grenada is known as the Spice Isle. Belmont Estates plantation lunch and dark chocolate are delicious. At the very North of the island, in St. Patrick, you will visit Carib’s Leap, an important historic site in Sauteurs. Sample Rum at a rum shop, made by the 200-year-old water-powered River Antoine Rum distillery. Passing the eastern coastal town of Grenville, we cut across the mountains to 1900ft above sea level, through the Grand Etang rainforest, home of the Mona monkey. We end with a cooling swim at Annandale Falls before the return journey to St. George’s.

Itinerary

  1. Enjoy views of Historic St George's with its majestic forts - Fort George and Fort Frederick, the towering church steeples and the -panoramic views of the scenic West Coast of Grenada as we drive towards our first stop at Gouyave
  2. Drive through the fishing town of Gouyave, home of Grenada Olympic medalist Kerani James and learn about the hand processing of nutmeg and mace and the uses of these versatile spices and their importance to the island's economy.
  3. Sample and purchase delicious Jouvay chocolate at Diamond Estate when you tour the facility - this is a must see, bean to chocolate experience! Visit Victoria nutmeg Museum and learn first-hand about nutmegs/ Grenada's black gold! (40 min) Admission included
  4. Your guide will show you Carib's Leap where the indigenous people made their last stand against the French! (15 min) Admission included
  5. Drive by the Distillery and sample rums at a Grenadian Rum Shop! The most popular being River's Rum which is produced at the water-powered rum distillery using methods which are over 200year old. Your guide will tell you about the production of "Rivers Rum" which starts with the growing and harvesting of fresh sugar cane whose juice is fermented and distilled to make the overproof rums which you will be able to sample!
  6. Enjoy a delicious three course plantation lunch at Grenada's premier Agro-tourism attraction - all produce is grown on the estate. Learn about their delicious organic chocolate and goat cheese production, a wonderful blend of traditions and excellent service. (1h 30min) Admission included
  7. Passing through the eastern town of Grenville we head into the rainforest at 1900ft above sea level to stop and Grand Etang Forest Reserve, nature centre and volcanic lake. If we are lucky we may even see the mischievous mona monkey, introduced during the slave trade. (30 min) Admission included
  8. Picturesque Annandale Falls is our last stop, there's time for a refreshing dip at the falls and refreshments are on sale at the new bar/restaurant with balcony views of the falls. An inviting cooling stop before we return to St George's (30 min) Admission included
