It became a national museum in 1966 just after six years of Senegal independence.It was renamed Theodore Monod Museum in 2007 in hommage to a french scientist whose work contributed to African art restoration. While walking with your guide around the museum you will discover the old African arts and artworks from mainly west African countries starting from Sub-Saharian Africa to tropical west African countries.You will see a large range of masks,basketry,potery,leather arts , scene rites and so on.
