- Tucked away in the historic heart of Shuri, Zuisen Distillery has been producing traditional Okinawan awamori since 1887. As one of the few distilleries located so close to Shurijo Castle, Zuisen carries on a legacy of craftsmanship once favored by the Ryukyuan royal court. On this tour, you'll walk through the distillery's facilities, observe the time-honored fermentation and distillation process using black koji mold, and sample several varieties of awamori—from smooth, easy-drinking styles to rich, aged expressions.
