1. Old Perithia, also known as the ghost village, has in the later years become one of the most popular places to visit in Corfu. It was built in the 14th century in the Pantokrator mountainsides, well-protected from the pirate attacks, it was at the time buzzing with life and wealth, as the inhabitants dealt mainly with farming lands and livestock. With the rise of tourism, the locals began to leave the mountain, headed for the more popular coastal resorts, until the village was fully abandoned.
