The main entrance to the old town and the most impressive among the Zadar gates is the ornate City Gate (also called the Land Gate–Kopnena vrata in Croatian), on the southern side of the old town in the little Foša harbour. It was built by a Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli, finished in 1543 and it is considered one of the finest monuments of the Renaissance in Dalmatia. (5 min)

  5. The stories about the Zadar Sphinx, and the treasure buried under it, were the inspiration for numerous fantasies by generations of Zadar citizens. (5 min)
  6. Greeting to the Sun is located in the port of Zadar, in the west of the Zadar Peninsula, right next to the Sea Organ. Located in this ideal location, it offers a beautiful view of Zadar's islands and the sunset. (5 min)
  7. The Sea Organ has become a modern icon of the city – this is a unique architectural miracle built in the underwater part of the city quay. The currents of waves and their passage through musical pipes installed beneath the surface of the sea create an amazing sound, the so-called sea music, filling the large space of the seaside promenade. The same architect, Nikola Bašić, takes credit for the Greeting to the Sun, situated right at the top of Zadar peninsula. The Greeting to the Sun consists of three hundred multilayer glass plates installed at the same level as the stone paving of the quay in the shape of a circle 22 meters in diameter. It is conceived as a spatial installation in the shape of an amphitheater surrounded by stone blocks with a presentation of all Solar System planets and their orbits. According to the famous Alfred Hitchcock, this part of the Zadar quay provides a view of the most beautiful sunset in the world. (10 min)
  8. Orientation walk through Zadar Old town. Possible stop for photo shooting. (10 min)
  9. Located in front of the church of Saint Donat and the Archbishop´s Palace, it was the centre of the entire public life, the largest forum on the east coast. Roman era, built from the 1st century BC to the 3rd century AD (10 min)
