Private Lasithi Plateu Tour: Zeus Cave, Monastery & Olive Mill

This tour will take you to Lassithi Plateau, where you will explore its wonders. First stop in an Olive Oil Mill as in Crete we have great tradition with olive oil production.We will continue to the Monastery of Kera, with centuries of religious tradition. From there, you will be guided to the island' s mythological past with a visit to the legendary Cave of Zeus and then to the countryside. Next stop for lunch in a Traditional Restaurant and the plane tree in Krasi that witnessed many historical events and the presence of the famous Greek author Nikos Kazantzakis.

Itinerary

1. First stop to an olive oil mill, a tour to the olive groves and olive oil tasting. You will learn about the olive oil production now and in the past and enjoy tour in the facilities. (1h 0min)
2. Next, delve into the spiritual heart of Crete as you explore the serene Monastery of Kera, with centuries of religious tradition and beautiful frescoes. (45 min) Admission included
3. From there, you will be guided to the island's mythological past with a visit to the legendary Cave of Zeus in Lasithi Plateau, the mythical birthplace of god Zeus. (1h 10min)
4. A stop at the windmills, where you can enjoy amazing views and take pictures. (30 min)
5. Stop in a natural park in altitude of 850 meters for lunch, that the landscape will amaze you. As it takes place in a village that the most common crafting arts from Crete' s recent history are gathered, you will also have the chance to do shopping, before we continue. (1h 45min)
6. You will have the chance to see first hand the monumental plane tree of Krasi. Its trunk has got perimeter of 24 meters and it is said that each meter corresponds to 100 years! It is among the 5 largest European trees. (30 min)
