During the 30 minute tour your friendly, experienced driver and guide will take you on a journey around a number of popular sightseeing spots including The Reimeikan, Terukuni Shrine, Kagoshima Castle and Takamori Saigo's statue as well as museums and galleries. You will have an amazing opportunity to sense the historical and cultural past as well as the vibrant city life of today! Stop for photos to capture your memorable moments on this unforgettable experience! Suitable for all ages and for bookings of 1 or 2 people (free for kids under 6). Contact in advance to tailor the tour by suggesting places of interest to visit. Luggage can be left at the hotel pickup point during the tour. Please arrive 10 minutes before the pick-up time. Itinerary

  1. Significant not only as a museum but also as a symbol of Kagoshima’s rich history and cultural heritage. It honors the city’s role in Japan’s modernization during the Meiji Restoration and the Satsuma Rebellion and is is situated within the grounds of Kagoshima Castle. (5 min)
  2. Also known as Tsurumaru Castle. The castle was built between 1602 and 1606. It still consists of the original stone walls and moat with the lush forests of Shiroyama Hill as backdrop. (5 min)
  3. A Shinto shrine dedicated to Shimazu Nariakira, the 28th feudal lord of Satsuma Domain and a prominent figure in Japan’s modernization during the late Edo period. (5 min)
  4. A bronze monument located in the Central Park that honors the life and legacy of Saigo Takamori, a famous leader in the Meiji Restoration and later rebellion against the Meiji government who is considered a hero and symbol of the city’s history and culture. (5 min)
