3. The Izumo Oyashiro Shrine is one of the most famous Shrines in Japan, and was built in the ancient times. It is already written in a book from the early 8th century. It is said that the original structure was almost 96 meters high, and taller than the Great Buddha Hall at Todaiji Temple in Nara! The current main architecture was completed renovation in 1744. 5. Matsue Castle is a Japanese National Treasure, and remains the original wooden structure built in 1607. Samurai residences can be found around the castle. 7. Shigeru Mizuki is a modern Japanese cartoonist from Sakaiminato. His the most famous work is GeGeGe no Kitaro, which features yokai, Japanese folklore creatures. There are statues of the yokai along this road. The whole town is a theme park! (30 min)
