Santander Private Tour Historic Center

Discover Santander’s history, culture and heritage on this 2 hour 30 minute guided walking tour of the historic city centre. Accompanied by an official guide, you will walk through the most emblematic streets, squares and monuments as you learn about Santander’s origins, its historical evolution, architecture and local traditions. The tour takes place entirely outdoors and includes explanations from the outside of the main monuments and sights of the tour. Tickets and indoor visits are not included.

Itinerary

1. Starting point of the tour and one of the most central spaces of Santander, presided over by the City Hall building.
2. Religious complex formed by two overlapping churches, closely linked to the origins and medieval history of the city.
3. One of the most representative squares in Santander, built during the urban reconstruction after the great fire of 1941.
4. Historic market located in the center, converted into a lively gastronomic and commercial space.
5. Elegant square surrounded by historic buildings, known for its quiet atmosphere and being a traditional meeting point.
6. One of Santander’s most emblematic avenues, with stately buildings and privileged views of the bay.
7. Large green area located next to the promenade, ideal to know the relationship of the city with its natural environment.
8. Art center designed by the architect Renzo Piano, renowned for its contemporary architecture and its seafront location.
9. Former port crane turned into one of the symbols of Santander’s industrial and maritime past.
10. Historic building next to the bay that currently functions as an exhibition hall and cultural space.
