Combine sightseeing and river rafting on this relaxing Skagway shore excursion. Enjoy a beautiful 10-mile (16-km) drive along the coast to the Dyea Valley, an old Gold Rush settlement rich with history. On the drive, you may spot seals, eagles and other wildlife (however wildlife sightings are not guaranteed). See the start of the famous Chilkoot Trail, where thousands journeyed in pursuit of gold in 1898. Gear up with lifejackets, rubber boots, and rain ponchos (if necessary) for the peaceful (approx. 40 minute) float through lush coastal forest with mountain views. Enjoy nature away from the crowds in a beautiful Alaskan setting.

Itinerary

  1. Scenic Skagway Float tour to Dyea valley. Includes scenic coastal van drive to and from Skagway. (2h 15min)
  2. Scenic Overlook of Nahku (Long) Bay. View of bay, Lynn Canal and distant Chilkat Mountains. (10 min)
  3. Dyea valley is where the river float takes place. We do not go to the old townsite of Dyea but are traveling through the valley by van and river raft. (1h 30min)
