Itinerary
- Our route runs parallel to the Lérez riverbed, a river that we make the protagonist of our entire tour. Following the walk, we will make a first stop in the vicinity of the Santiago Bridge with views towards the Puente de los Tirantes, one of the main civil engineering works of the late 20th century. In addition, we will highlight the natural importance of the Island of Sculptures and the unique Pasarela de los Cobos. (15 min)
- On the way to the Puente das Correntes we will make a stop at one of the viewpoints on the Uruguay Avenue promenade to enjoy the lights of the bridges. Next, the tour stops at the outer platforms of the Puente das Correntes to learn about its history, the importance of its location, and the views of the A Barca Bridge. (25 min)
- The tour continues along the Paseo Domingo Fontán at whose main viewpoint we will explain the importance of the Marismas da Xunqueira de Alba and the diversity of its fauna and flora. In the vicinity of the Puente del Burgo we will take the opportunity to learn about its architecture and all the curiosities of the key infrastructure of the origin of the city of Pontevedra. (30 min)
- We walked along the pedestrian platform of the monument. A work whose recent rehabilitation allows us to explain the process of humanization that since 1999 has transformed the urban reality of the city. In addition, it is a magical place that connects us with the Lérez River, with its banks, the Pilgrimage Route to Compostela and with the stars of the Milky Way. A point of magic in which we will tell some legends. (15 min)
- The last part of the tour takes place in the Plaza de Valentín García Escudero. Nothing less than one of the most unique open-air museums in the city, because, among other elements, we will see remains of the medieval walls of the 12th, 15th and 16th centuries, in addition to the original arches of the medieval bridge as well as the remains of the boardwalks or one of the milestones from Roman times found. Everything to discover and much to know about the incredible history of Pontevedra! (20 min)
