Itinerary
- We have a brief walk around the Parliament grounds where your guide will point out the iconic ‘Beehive’, Houses of Parliament and the Parliamentary Library building. (15 min)
- Built between 1865 and 1866 Old St Pauls Cathedral is one of the best examples of Gothic Revival architecture in the world. The Cathedral is particularly poignant for American visitors. A large contingent of the American Marine Corp were based in and around Wellington in 1942 and many Marines would attend Sunday services. The American Marine Corp flag and the American national flag of that time with 48 stars hang proudly inside the Cathedral. Here we have a guided tour with a Heritage NZ staff member who will provide an extensive overview of the history of the Cathedral. (30 min) Admission included
- Take a ride on Wellington's long standing, iconic tourist attraction - the Wellington Cable Car. Your guide will take you to the entry point and then meet you up at your final destination - Kelburn. (30 min) Admission included
- We take a walk through the magnificent Lady Norwood Rose Garden located in the Wellington Botanical Gardens. When the roses are not in bloom a short walk in the gardens can be taken. (30 min)
- Put your I in the iconic Well_ington sign, stroll along the harbourside for great city and harbour scenic photo opportunities and view the statue of Kupe which shows the legendary Polynesian explorer with his wife, Hine Te Apārangi, and his tohunga (priest), Pekahourangi. (30 min)
- Take a scenic drive along Oriental Bay winding up the narrow roads of Wellington to Wellington's most popular lookout point. Here we take in majestic views over the city and harbour. (30 min)
- Immerse yourself in the magical world of movie making and special effects at the Weta Cave. Please note: the visit to the Weta Cave does not include the behind the scenes tour of the Weta Workshop. (15 min)
- View the majestic memorial and tomb of the resting place of former Prime Minister William Massey and his wife Christina. (30 min)
- Lunch and a choice of beverage at this iconic Eastern Bays Cafe. (1h 0min) Admission included
- We visit several memorials at Seatoun and Breaker Bay to 51 people who tragically lost their lives on 10 April 1968 from the sinking of the Inter Island Ferry Wahine. In fact a further 2 people were to die after the tragedy as a result of injuries sustained on that fateful day. (15 min)
- We visit the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk memorial, the first President of the Republic of Turkey above Breaker Bay. The memorial looks out over Cook Strait and the site was chosen for its remarkable likeness to the landscape of the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey. The memorial is particularly poignant for Australian, New Zealand and Turkish visitors who commemorate the ANZAC Gallipoli campaign during World War 1. (30 min)
- View Wellington's first wind turbine and take in another majestic view of the city and harbour. (30 min)
- Visit the Tomb for the Unknown Solider and pay our respects to all New Zealand service men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice. (15 min)
- Finish your full day tour of Wellington sampling award winning Gelato at the Zelati Dessert Cafe, a 2nd generation, iconic family-owned business. (30 min) Admission included
