Itinerary
- As we fly over Shute Harbour, the gateway to The Whitsundays, you'll be likely to see a ferry or two on their way out to the islands. Additionally, you'll see some of the smaller reefs, such as Shute Reef, and White Rock Reef
- As we leave the mainland, we'll first fly past the north tip of Long Island. Long Island, at 9km in length and only 400m at it widest point, is the closest Island to the Australian Mainland of the Whitsunday Group. Long Island is home to expansive fringing coral reefs and secluded bays.
- Whitsunday Island is the largest island in the Whitsundays, covering an area of 275.08 km² In addition to it's magnificent fringing reefs and beaches. Whitsunday Island boasts some of most beautiful scenery in the world, with the pure white sands of Whitehaven Beach and the twisting blue waters of Hill Inlet, both of which are just around the corner.
- Our next birds-eye view will be of Dent Island, and the ever popular Hamilton Island. Hamilton island is surrounded with beautiful coral reefs and bays, as well as it's own resort, marina and airport.
- Whitehaven Beach is best recognised by it's brilliant white sands and turquoise waters, thought to have been brought to the beach over millions of years by prevailing sea currents. Across from Whitehaven Beach, on Haslewood Island you'll also find Chalkie's Beach, with it's fringing reef system home to a variety of fish and sea turtles Whitehaven Beach is about as picturesque as they get, so make sure you have your camera ready!
- Just north of Whitehaven Beach we'll see Hill Inlet, which is best viewed from the seat of a helicopter
- As we begin our return to the mainland, we'll fly over Whitsunday Island and it's mountainous terrain. Once we reach the West side of the island, there will be more reefs and some smaller beaches, one of which being Dugong Beach, where you might just catch a glimpse of some Dugong or Turtles.
- The last of the islands we'll see before hitting the mainland are North and South Molle Islands, and daydream island.
